Full of anticipation and of course not for the first time I participated with about 25 students of Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) of my module “Uncertainty experience and coping strategies in an entrepreneurial context” at the Meetup at Setlog on the topic “Pitch for Sale! Ready! Go!” This Meetup made us particularly curious, because pitching could not be more suitable for a foundation seminar and the students could identify very well with the speaker Nils Beckmann, founder of Pitch and Grow and RUB-Alumnus.
Nils Beckmann has been on the road since 2012 as a rhetoric trainer and has since then repeatedly dealt with the topic of pitching in order to build up his network. He knows from his own experience what is important and which mistakes should be avoided. In 2018 he finally used this experience to found Pitch and Grow and developed his own Pitch-SLAM method to plan and implement a successful pitch. Very descriptive and with many examples he presented his method to us. In the second step the whole audience had to become active and try out the method with several practical exercises. He proved to all of us that you neither have to be a ramp sow nor a born salesman to convince investors and customers. The only thing that matters is what information you place how and where.
In addition to the valuable inputs from the lecture, we also benefited from the “Setlog Sightseeing”, where all interested Meetup participants were guided through the Setlog rooms. We were able to gain exciting insights into the agile setlog everyday life and marvel at the innovative and open personnel and room concept.
Afterwards, as always, there were plenty of networking opportunities with cool drinks and delicious food. The students were able to
make full new contacts and get to know some important players of the Ruhr-Startup-Community. I was especially happy to see many familiar faces again.
We would like to thank Setlog very much for the exciting evening and the great hospitality and are already looking forward to the Meetups in 2019!
