(Bochum / New York, September 9, 2024) The fashion brand Fynch-Hatton has prepared itself for further growth: In order to bring transparency into the supply chain and automate supply chain processes, the Monchengladbach-based company introduced the cloud-based software tool OSCA from Setlog GmbH in Bochum.
“In 2022, we achieved record sales growth in the company’s history of more than 40 percent. But the import process was not transparent yet because we were still working with Excel spreadsheets and lots of emails. We could only react to disruptions in the supply chain with a delay,” reports Patrick Lamertz, Head of Supply Chain at Fynch-Hatton. To prepare for further expansion plans and achieve greater transparency and agility in supply chain management, the management of Fynch-Hatton, together with CFO Frank Zimmermann, who is also responsible for logistics, decided to digitize the supply chain. Out of ten tools evaluated, the management opted for Setlog’s “Online Supply Chain Accelerator”, or OSCA for short, due to its range of functions and practicality.
Implementation of the software is simple. Goods processes can be handled quickly and comprehensively. Fynch-Hatton reports its orders from its ERP system to the production sites via OSCA. The SCM software serves as a central communication tool – from order confirmation and delivery planning to transport bookings. In addition to costs, throughput times, volumes, carton packing lists, transport times and delivery dates can also be monitored and controlled.
The four logistics service providers that Fynch-Hatton works with feed transport notifications and tracking data into the system. The follow-up process is also controlled via OSCA – including coordination of delivery dates and times between the freight forwarder and the central warehouse in Monchengladbach.
The warehouse management system of the distribution center was also integrated into the tool. The barcodes of the delivered cartons are recorded and the data on incoming goods quantities is automatically entered into the tool. Users can view and document the status of orders on dashboards. If delivery dates change or delays in production or transportation occur, all partners in the value chain are informed proactively.
The implementation was completed in less than five weeks. “Over the past few years, we have developed pre-structured workflow and onboarding processes based on benchmark analyses for global SCM processes. Fynch-Hatton followed exactly these in an exemplary team effort and was able to go live with OSCA in record time,” reports Ralf Duester, Managing Director at Setlog. In the meantime, the fashion brand with the umbrella acacia in its logo has connected a large number of suppliers to OSCA and thus covers 99 percent of the import volume via the tool. The company, which was founded in 1998, manages 400 shipments per year with the new software – and the trend is rising. The fashion from Monchengladbach is now offered in 2950 sales outlets in 55 countries – from small boutiques to department store groups.
“With OSCA, we are optimally equipped for future growth. Full transparency in the supply chain is of the utmost importance when it comes to short-term supply chain disruptions – and this cannot be avoided in industries with fast-moving consumer goods. In this respect, the tool not only supports us in tracking orders and shipments, but also helps to minimize risk overall. And last but not least, we have built our liquidity planning around OSCA – and excellent reporting can be created in no time at all,” emphasizes CFO Zimmermann. Fynch-Hatton’s digitalization journey is not over yet. The company is currently looking into freight costing and post-calculation solutions, as well as modules for managing audits and certificates to monitor its high standards of quality and sustainability.
