(Bochum / New York, May 29, 2024) Products of the brands NIGRIN and cartrend are familiar to almost every car enthusiast. The MTS Group, the company behind these products, is currently accelerating the digitalization of their supply chain management. In order to meet the requirements of modern supply chain management, the company from Ruelzheim has introduced the cloud-based software OSCA from Setlog in Bochum.

“We manage a product range of 20,000 items. With OSCA, we are gradually bringing more transparency to our supply chain and improving the traceability of purchase orders and supply chain management. The tool makes it easy to intervene quickly,” emphasizes Helge Jager, Head of Supply Chain and responsible project manager at the MTS Group.

The implementation of Setlog’s software is simple and facilitates fast and comprehensive processing of all goods flows. The MTS Group reports its orders from the ERP system via OSCA to about 120 Asian suppliers who produce accessories for cars and bicycles, car care products and electrical installation materials. There are plans to expand to up to 350 suppliers from Asia and Europe. The SCM software serves as a communication tool – from order confirmation and delivery planning to transportation bookings. In addition to costs, volumes, lead times, transport times, carton packing lists and delivery dates can also be monitored. A logistics service provider imports shipment notifications and tracking data into the system via EDI. Dashboards document the respective status transparently.

If delivery data changes or delivery delays occur, all partners in the value chain are informed and an early warning system sounds the alarm in the event of delivery bottlenecks. The suppliers use the tool to control the transport booking process with the nominated forwarding agent. The logistics service provider can upload the required mandatory documents for the shipments. OSCA is also used to manage the entire follow-up process up to the time of goods delivery at three warehouse locations.

The introduction of the software will bring improvements to the entire supply chain management of MTS Group. The company has a fully integrated business model that manages the entire value chain as a service provider with a product range of more than 20,000 items. It starts with product development and extends to the presentation of goods at the point of sale.

B2C customers include, for example, car and DIY enthusiasts who work on their own vehicles or within their own flat. In the B2B sector, the customers are large European retail chains. The company serves several distribution channels – large retailers, specialist retailers and discounters. Online sales account for just under a third of turnover. “It’s exciting to implement and go live with OSCA for a customer like the MTS Group with such a wide range of brands and products. The cooperation, which has been very constructive and based on partnership right from the start, has been extremely successful,” says Ralf Duester, CEO of Setlog.

“By implementing the software, all partners can communicate via a central system. This improves the processes enormously, especially for the many articles. Changes in delivery planning or transport delays are immediately visible. And hectic e-mail correspondence or Excel lists can be completely dispensed within this area,” reports Moritz Foerster, CIO of the MTS Group. The tool has not yet been fully rolled out, but the IT manager is already thinking about using other OSCA modules such as quality assurance and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
